This quote is from one of my favorite authors Michael Pollan. I was introduced to Pollan's work my freshman year of college and it changed my whole perspective on food. Pollan writes about the secrets of the food industry, local self-sufficient farming and the evolution of the hunter-gatherer. His books are the reason I started supporting local businesses and locally grown food. Until I read The Omnivore's Dilemma (great book, btw) I knew nothing about where my food came from. I grew up in a really small town where half my friends either owned a farm or was related to someone who was. So naturally I thought my food came from our local farms. Pollan opened my eyes to much more behind the scenes action. He is an inspiration to my work and a role model I'd like to follow.
